Due to COVID-19 closures, we were sad to miss partnering with ECOSLO's 2020 "Seas to Trees" event to clean-up SLO County! Our event, Beneath the Surface, cleans-up trash under the water at the Harford Pier AND welcomes the public to clean-up trash on the land all around Avila. Hopefully, when we are open again, we will reschedule this event. Thank you. Details below from 2019's event.
Experienced open water divers are invited to join us as we dive in to clean-up Avila Bay below the surface. All divers MUST register in advance by calling Chuck Rawlinson at Depth Perceptions at (805) 595-3631. Diver check-in: 7:30 am at Harford Pier. Divers will enter the water at 8:00 am.
Non-divers are welcome too! Join us on the pier and peer below the surface, watching to see what wonders the divers retrieve from the Bay’s depths. All hands on deck when the trashy treasures arrive, we need all the help we can get sorting at the surface.
Join us as we clean-up Avila Beach on the shoreline! Volunteer participants will be provided buckets, grabbers, and gloves. Bring hats, sunscreen, and sturdy shoes because volunteers will be dispatched across the beach, along the pier, and up the estuary and creek beside the Bob Jones trail. Open to the public, no pre-registration required. All participants will receive $2 off admission to the Central Coast Aquarium, a complimentary BBQ Lunch and time to enjoy an ECO Fair in our Ocean Discovery Park. Invite your friends and family to come out and clean-up!
